All sports are based on athletes moving in the most effective ways they can to perform the skills that apply to their sport. Our Youth Athletic Performance program is designed to expose young and growing athletes to the movements that will serve as a foundation for success during the later years of training and practice to come. Our method focuses on essential movement patterns for the entire body to best prepare kids for athletic participation. To improve and excel in sport, they need to experience how their bodies should react while executing sport specific moves. If they don’t get this experience, they have a distinct disadvantage when the time comes to take the field or court and could potentially be at higher risk of injury.
Our program breaks down fundamentals down into seven athletic components essential for success in any sport.
These components are:
· Flexibility
· Coordination
· Balance
· Stamina
· Strength
· Speed
· Agility
If improvement is shown in each of these seven areas, the result will be a much more well-rounded physically and mentally, young athlete.
Foundational Principles:
1. Safety.
Remember: “Do no harm!”
2. Simplicity.
The young-un’s attention span demands this.
3. Teaching basic movement skills.
Squatting, hinging, bracing,
crawling, jumping, falling, running,
climbing, hanging, pushing, dragging, throwing, etc.
4. All-aroundness.
A mix of static and dynamic loads, a mix of energy pathways, a mix of loading
directions.
5. Strength carryover to as many applications as possible.
Focus on a wide range of attributes.
Seek maximally efficient exercises, which give the biggest bang for the buck.
